Helping Our Neighbors in Emergencies

Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue

Statistics

Our Operations/ Finances

As illustrated on the chart below, our two main sources of funding are Rappahannock county (44% of our operating funding in 2007/ 56% in 2008), immediately followed by donations (30% in 2007/ 20% in 2008) from people like you throughout the community. Your donations are citical; we need your help in 2009 more than ever: no donation is too small!

Our income - also called “Operating Funds” - is used to operate and maintain our station, all our equipment and vehicles; make our loan payments on newer pieces of equipment and our station; buy medical supplies, small tools, fuel, and fire-fighting personal equipment; and pay for training and other necessary expenses.

Read about our equipment here and a more complete report for 2008 here.

In 2007, we responded to  653 calls for the Rappahannock 911 system (496 medical calls and 157 fire calls.)
