Text Box: Full House Burn, Training Exercise
July 2008

A complete house was offered to the Washington Volunteer Fire & Rescue for Fire Training exercises, offering an opportunity for:

· New members to get familiar with equipments and processes

· Improving how we work together in a controlled situation

· Learning to protect adjacent structures and landscape by the judicious use of foam

· Refilling the tank from a rural pond

Several structures were available, allowing for cumulative learning over a few days, as each structure was burned separately

Note: because this was a training situation, we were able to take a lot of pictures - unlike real-life situations  where we first take care of the emergencies, and then take photos! In this case we were able to take photos throughout the exercise!

Owners Paul and Randi Shumate wrote a letter of appreciation to the Rappahannock News thanking Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Read it here.
