Air Evacuation after ATV Accident

An ATV accident in the Castleton area, where we were able to help Castleton VFR, necessitated a helicopter evacuation of the victim.

 

A reminder that prudence is required when driving an ATV.

ATV Accident – Castleton
On March 29, 2008 at 15:49 hrs companies were dispatched for an ATV accident with a male subject with a possible broken leg at the end of Old Church Lane.  Medic 1-1 arrived first on scene and made contact with the patient’s friend who would lead the crew to the patient. Medic 1-1’s crew loaded all the equipment needed into Utility 1 and continued a short distance to the patient.  It was determined that the patient had significant enough injures and would need to be taken to a trauma center via helicopter.  Rescue Engine 3 set up the landing zone at the scene, and PHI AirCare transported the Patient to the appropriate trauma center.
